It’s that time of year again! We are looking for individuals to join us, not only on the JSRA committee but as part of the main event crew!
This is an excellent opportunity for YOU to join a dynamic, positive thinking team who are passionate in making the British Jetsport Championships
the world class event it is today.
At our 2018 AGM, on the 17th of November, we will discuss the 2019 race season, vote in our committee & select crew members to help at events.
We are a members association so it’s your time to make a difference!
If you are interested in helping in a crew role or becoming a committee member, we want to hear from you. Nominations need to be emailed to info@jsra.co.uk before the 17th of November. Once all nominations for major roles are received along with any current committee still offering to stand,these names will be listed at our AGM for the members to vote either an existing member or new member into the role.

We would like to thank all the committee/crew for 2018 and a big thank-you to the below for all their help over the years.

Chairperson Committee Member

Chairing is a key role on any voluntary Management Committee. The Chairperson must ensure that the Committee functions properly, that there is full participation during meetings, that all relevant matters are discussed and that effective decisions are made and carried out.

Vice Chairperson (Line manager is Chairperson) Committee Member

The vice-chair stands in for the chair and helps with difficult decisions between meetings. The chair

should liaise regularly with the vice-chair and ensure he or she knows enough about the current issues within the organisation to be able to stand in at short notice.

Race Director (Line manager is Chairperson) Committee Member

Responsible for administering, organising and coordinating race series, working with media to promote. Manages the set up personel at each event to prepare all areas. Creates race course design, tests and works with Safety officier to finalise. Race briefing with riders, crew, communicates with Course marshalls and manages racing throughout the weekend. The race director has final say over any race decisions. (This post is not open to competing racers).

Remuneration is £500.00 per race weekend.

Assistant to Race Director & Set up (Line manager is Race Director) Committee Member

Responsible for assisting Race Director in all areas covered, able to stand in on main race directors role when needed. May stand behind the start line to watch for problems in starting & communicate to RD. (This post is not open to competing racers).

Remuneration is £350.00 per race weekend.

Health & Safety Officier (Line manager is Chairperson) Committee Member

Responsible for coordinating, event & crew insurance cover, all aspects of safety on the race site and that the risk assessments have been carried out and key risks communicated via the Race Directors meeting. Safety officer will also guide and run through inductions for new pilots, agreeing with race director on pilots ability.

Race Secretary (Line manager is Chairperson) Committee Member

Coordinates Pilots & Crew, JSRA race licenses, race entries, signing on before racing and scores throughout the weekend. Deals with the main JSRA email or telephone enquires, and where needed passes onto the relevant Committee/crew member. Liaises with our other relevant organisations, monitors race and event licences, collects respective fees. Takes minutes at all meetings. Co-ordinates the AGM meeting and Gala Dinner.

Remuneration is £300.00 per race weekend.

Tresurer (Line manager is Chairperson) Committee Member

Responsible for managing accounts, payments in and out. The treasurer is responsible for keeping accurate books that will enable him/her to give a full financial report whenever requested.

Remuneration is £200.00 per race weekend.

Marketing/Branding (Line manager is Chairperson) Committee Member

Responsible for actively promoting the British Jetsport Championships in publicity activities, advertising and customer interaction. Reaching and engaging people in the sport. Working closely with Social Media, TV & Media Manager. The marketing function is also tasked with branding of the organization. Making sure the British Jetsport Championships is consistent with it's identity at events, presense on the website, social media and content delivered.

Sponsorship (Line manager is Chairperson) Committee Member

Responsible for coordinating internal and external communications related to sponsorship. Working with current sponsors & finding potential new sponsors. Offering packages in return for money or product value. Keeping record of all sponsor logos and info to use at events or across media outlets. Provides information necessary for invoicing sponsors or other donors to the Treasurer.

Freestyle Representatives (Line manager is Chairperson) Committee Member

Responsible for organising freestyle events, prizes & sponsorship for Freestyle, working with Race Director for race schedule, for main British Jetsport Championships to facilitate the freestyle competition.

Rider Liaison (Line manager is Chairperson) Committee Member

Responsible for communicating & coordinating between riders and committee/event officials, being available to support riders (and potential riders thinking about starting racing) with any questions or queries they may have on the race weekends or any other time via phone or email. (This post is only open to competing racers).

Remuneration is Free Race Entry.

TV, Media Officer (Line manager is Chairperson) Committee Member

Press/media officer, represent their organisation to the media. Responding to enquiries from journalists, write press releases, try to interest journalists/media in their organisation's stories and campaigns, arrange for spokespeople to speak to the press, and monitor media coverage.

Commentator (Line manager is Chairperson)

Responsible for setting up and dismantling the Sound system and associated speakers and setting up any weather proofing equipment that may be required during the course of the event, to be available to commentate during all motos and race practices, to carry out pre-race and post-race interviews with competitors.

Social Media Manager (Line manager is TV Media Officer/Chairperson)

Responsible for all social media accounts, working with marketing & all media to promote events, sponsors. Working on content to post & keep a constant flow across all media accounts. Also uploading/operating information to the website.

Website operative (Line manager is Race Secretary & Social Media)

To update and operate the website, including posting itinerary’s entry forms and the results after a race event, working with social media & race secretary.

Technical control personnel (Line manager is Race Director)

Responsible for setting up Pre-race inspections area and preforming safety inspections and completing the necessary paperwork on all craft types and personal protective equipment prior to being allowed on the water. Also Responsible for setting up post-race inspections areas of all craft types to ensure that they abide by the rules for the stated class they competed in accordance with the JSRA/IJSBA current rules.

Remuneration is £150.00 per race weekend.

Safety Marshall (Line manager is Race Director/Health & Safety Officer)

Help the Race Director manage each race on the water by use of flags to advise racers.

They assist fallen riders back to their skis and tow broken skis back to the launch ramp. Full Water Safety training to be given at the Winter Round.

Remuneration is £175.00 per race weekend.

Pre-grid personnel (Line manager is Race Secretary)

Responsible for setting up pre-grid area and liaising with the Race secretary for the allocation and checking of each grid-slot for each competitor to ensure that they are correct.

Remuneration is £40.00 per race weekend.

Lap scoring personnel (Line manager is Race Secretary)

Responsible for watching each race and recording via check-sheet the current position of each competitor on each lap as they cross the chequers area, also for recording if required when the competitor has missed any course buoys, have taken the equaliser buoy or taken the penalty (black) buoy.

Event Co-Ordinator & Head Pit Marshall (Line manager is Race Director)

Working with venues ahead of events to to be able to communicate to the pilots/public any venue requirements, procedures, facilities or extra activities. Responsible for organising the team of pit marshalls for greeting arrivals onsite, directing for parking in the pits. On Race day would need to work to the itinerary in making sure correct pilots/skis are ready to enter and retrive from the water safetly and on time. May also be needed to direct public/pilots through right of ways.

Remuneration is £60.00 per race weekend.

Pit Marshall (Line manager is Event Co-Ordinator)

Responsible for greeting arrivals onsite, directing for parking in the pits. On Race day would need to work to the itinerary in making sure correct pilots/skis are ready to enter and retrive from the water safetly and on time. May also be needed to direct public/pilots through right of ways.

Remuneration is £40.00 per race weekend.

Set-up personnel (Line manager is Race Director)

Responsible for setting up and dismantling as directed by the race director/assistant.

Remuneration is £200.00 per race weekend (divided between the whole group decided by Race Director).

Transport Operator (Line manager is Race Director)

Responsible for driving the race truck to & from events as directed by the race director. May be expected to help with some set up & pack up of lorry. Must have HGV licence and could be shared by a few different drivers, for different venues depending on available driving hours and locations.
